![]() ![]() Presence @ the Eclective by Kitty Came Home I spent a little over four days in the beautiful, old, inner-city barn that is the Queens Theatre in Adelaide this past weekend. It was a pretty full on event (nothing compared to the old days of working at WOMAdelaide) but none-the-less I came out of it needing sleep and with a strange, large, trapezoid-shaped bruise on the back of my knee. Thanks to Katrina from Kitty Came Home for the photo, I didn’t have time to grab any over the weekend! The Presence stall pulled quite a few admirers over the weekend, and my little photography setup has meant that I’m nearly up to my quota of weddings for the season at Kate Pardey Photography. I’m pretty excited about all of them, the families I get to spend a special day with are all very lovely and I’ll be at some pretty ace locations! (Plus I get to work with the amazing Gemma Vendetta on a special one!) Presence and Kate Pardey Photography have also launched our new Polaroid Camera and Vintage Typewriter hire. Shoot us an email for our price list. Hopefully the vintage hire range will be expanding soon! By far the best part of the whole event was chatting with the folks checking out the event (there are some excellent wedding ideas appearing out there, can’t wait to see how they turn out!) and the other lovely vendors and musicians I got to spend time with. Over the next few months I’ll be featuring some of the talent coming out of Adelaide over here & at the Kate Pardey Photography blog. Just to get your mouth watering have a look at the (super-awesome) vintage make-up and styling (of doom) by Gemma Vendetta (if you like what you see she has a single place left in her Super-Tutorial in November, I’ll be there with bells on!) And get along to the Farmer’s Market at the showgrounds to nom on some life-changing pastries from From Scratch Patisserie. We also discovered an excellent idea for any event or function, Green Shoes Mobile Creche Services. They managed to keep me entertained for the weekend! I’m also looking forward to catching up with the folks from Mrs.Fairweather’s Bicycle Emporium and heading out on a little road trip to visit Penny’s Hill, Hently Farm & the Vale Ale Taphouse. Discovering the yummy chocolate from Steven ter Horst (especially the chocolate tart) will probably be dangerous considering they’re just around the corner from us. Let them Eat also sustained us through the weekend with their veggie yumminess, I’ve been heading out to their new Croydon cafe far too much lately, they do rather good coffee too! On the paper goodies front it was lovely to meet Alicia from Akimbo after having followed her blog for so long & new kids on the block Lotte & Olive had some gorgeous designs and modeled some of our necklaces for the weekend. Expect to see flowers from Poppies ‘popping’ up in Presence before too long. The launch of The Vintage Bride Boutique, the baby of the amazing make-up artist Kara Fantasia is also set to be an event on the Adelaide bridal calender! After organising all the entertainment for the weekend I had an awesome time bopping along. Many thanks to the always amazing Chris from Music Adelaide who supplied the PA for the weekend and no less than three of the bands. Anything musical you might need, he can probably sort out. Our lovely DJs Remy, Carly & Hamish from Blue Frog Entertainment played just the right mix to keep everyone in the mood. Friday night got off to a soulful start with the Voice of Transition followed by Lucky Seven Swing accompanied by the Swing Sesh dancers (I’ll be heading down to join their swing dancing classes next month, anyone want to join me?). The big sounds (and crazy radio microphone technology) of Alice & the Wonderlands as well as a whole lot of the acoustic goodness of Heath Anthony kept me going. I’m looking forward to the warmer weather and catching up with a whole lot of new friends over the coming months! xx Kate ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So great to meet you too, Kate! Your stall looked fab. [...] check out my recap of The Eclective Wedding Showcase over at the Presence blog! Tags: Adelaide, adelaide bride, adelaide photogrpahy workshop, adelaide wedding, adelaide [...] So, I feel like I haven’t been back here for a few weeks, it’s been crazy! With the Eclective going on, piles of stock arriving and launching our new Polaroid Camera & Typewriter hire I’ve been a little blog-neglectful, new life goal is to become a better blogger. If you have any secrets/tips, please let me know! On a positive note, we got the awesome new Smith Journal in this morning (and promptly sold one out of the box)! It’s the new guys magazine from the team that make Frankie, it’s been a long time coming and I’m super-glad it’s finally here. Now if I can just conjure myself up a man out of the pages of this gorgeous publication… Smith Journal volume one is all about the kind of guys you know and the kind of guys you probably want to know better. We talk to ordinary blokes about being a good brother, have a gander in a musos wardrobe, travel to Alaska, ask a public intellectual what he believes in, think about moving into a house made out of a boat, learn how to talk like a 19th century sailor, figure out what quantum physics is all about and wonder whether we’ll survive the coming apocalypse. There are interviews with interesting types, chuckle-out-loud opinion pieces, culture, fashion, science, history and a fair few beers in the mix as well. All in all, a bloody good read. ![]() ![]()
